Darius Slay’s wife, Jennifer, says goodbye to Philly as Eagles plan release


Darius Slay and his family are flying out of Philly.

The 32-year-old cornerback said his goodbyes to the team on Wednesday amid reports he would be released as free agency begins.

“Nothing but love Philly!! Lets see where we heading next..,” Slay tweeted.

Slay’s wife, Jennifer Slay, also said farewell to Philadelphia in a heartfelt Instagram post.

“It’s been real Philly!!! It’s all love,” she wrote.

Married since 2018, Jennifer has supported Slay throughout his NFL career, which began with the Lions in 2013.

The five-time Pro Bowler was traded to the Eagles in 2020 and most recently was a part of the team’s Super Bowl 2023 roster.

Jennifer celebrated the Eagles’ NFC Championship win in January ahead of their clash against the Chiefs in Arizona.

“SUPERBOWL BOUND!!! My baby deserves it all!!!” Jennifer wrote on Instagram, to which Slay replied, “Yes ma’am … it’s go time.”

Despite grabbing an early lead over the Chiefs in Super Bowl 2023, the Eagles lost to Kansas City, 38-35.

In the days following the loss, Slay reflected on his 10th year in the league in a social media post.

“Yr10 in the books… one of my best seasons I’ve play. Appreciate my guys for making this captain life easy🙏🏾 #flyeaglesfly YR11 go be special,” he wrote in February.

Prior to his release, the Eagles permitted Slay’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, to seek a trade.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Wednesday that the Eagles “would designate Slay as a post-June 1 release.”
