Philadelphia sports fans were not thrilled a day after the Eagles were bounced from the playoffs in a lopsided loss to the Buccaneers.
But one fan took out his anger on 94.1 WIP in Philly when he called into one of the station’s programs on Tuesday.
“Chuck from Mt. Airy” didn’t want to hear anything that host Jack Fritz — who was filling in on WIP’s “Marks & Reese” — had to say when he had been going off on an epic rant about Philadelphia sports, but Fritz had been trying to focus on the Eagles.
Eventually, Chuck did get around to the birds, and Fritz interrupted him, leading to the tense exchange.
“You sit there and you run your freakin mouth,” Chuck said on air.
When Fritz told the caller to stop being a baby, that’s when Chuck really let him have it.
“Shut the f–k up,” the caller screamed.
Warning, explicit language
The comment halted the discussion right there as it seemed as though the station disconnected the call.
“Alright Chuck, why don’t you take a chill pill,” the host could be heard saying after the caller yelled out the expletive.
The clip of the heated call that went viral was taken from a stream of the afternoon show, so it’s not clear if the F-bomb made it over the terrestrial airwaves, which are governed and policed by the FCC, which can levy a warning or fine.
It’s been a tough year for Philadelphia sports fans who have seen their teams fall short of championships.
The Phillies lost in a seven-game NLCS after blowing a 3-2 series lead at home, and then the Eagles completed an epic collapse this season dropping five of their last six regular season games before falling apart in the wild card round against the Buccaneers.
That loss also saw one angry Philly fan throw a bucket of popcorn at head coach Nick Sirianni, who has been under fire since the start of the Eagles’ struggles.
The Eagles have plenty of offseason questions to address, and the answers may not make Chuck too happy.
