While Katy Perry’s daughter watched in awe as her mom was launched into space, the family of the disabled veteran she’s suing isn’t impressed.
The “Firework” singer, 40, blasted into space on Monday, April 14, as part of Blue Origin’s NS-31 mission. The all-female crew included the pop star, Gayle King, Lauren Sánchez, film producer Kerianne Flynn, aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe and astronaut/activist Amanda Nguyen.
Perry and her fellow celebrity crew faced backlash ahead of their mission, with some, including actress Olivia Munn, accusing the stars of being “gluttonous” with their trip to space that only lasted around 11 minutes.
The Post spoke to Carl Westcott’s son, who added to the criticism.
The 85-year-old veteran, who is bedridden, has been locked in a legal war with the “Dark Horse” singer since selling her his $15 million mansion in 2020.
Their court date is set for August after she countersued him for damages — despite being declared the legal owner of the home in 2023.
“Katy Perry says she felt ‘super connected to love’ after her trip to space. I can’t help but wonder if her experience will make her more compassionate to elderly disabled veterans like my father,” Chart Westcott, Carl’s son, told The Post exclusively after the rocket launch.
“I am glad she made it back safe and look forward to having her testify in August and be held accountable for her actions against my family,” he concluded.
The Post reached out to Perry’s lawyer for comment.
Days after offloading the home to the superstar in 2020, Carl — who suffers from the neurological disorder Huntington’s disease — had a change of heart.
He attempted to back out of the sale, blaming his mental health and alleging he was on painkillers after surgery when they inked the deal.
The 1-800-Flowers founder ended up suing Perry’s business manager, Bernie Gudvi, dragging the Grammy-nominated musician and her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, into the legal battle.
In November 2023, a Los Angeles judge sided with Perry, ruling that she was the rightful owner of the eight-bedroom, 11-bathroom estate.
However, their battle isn’t over. The “California Gurls” singer countersued Carl, claiming the veteran owes her millions in damages because she was unable to rent out the mansion during their court feud.
The trial was set for February, but due to Carl’s ailing health, it was pushed to August.
Perry and Carl are scheduled to face off in court starting Aug. 21.
However, the singer is likely flying high after her space launch and not thinking of her upcoming legal battle.
Perry’s daughter, Daisy, 4, whom Perry has with Bloom, was watching her famous mom from the crowd. The tyke wore an astronaut outfit and was heard shouting “Mama!” during the historic moment.
The singer even brought a special item on board the rocket that represented her daughter: the flower she’s named after.
After completing the space mission, Perry spoke about the accomplishment.
“This experience is second to being a mom. That’s why it was hard for me to go because that’s all my love right there, and I have to surrender and trust that the universe is going to take care of me and protect me and also my family and daughter,” she told reporters, per People magazine.
“I am full up from being able to get that gift of being a mom, and to go to space is incredible, and I wanted to model courage, worthiness and fearlessness.”
Each of the celebrities who participated in Jeff Bezos’ space mission wore space suits with a special nod to their careers.
Perry’s outfit had a firework design next to her name to symbolize her hit song, Sánchez (Bezos’ fiancée) sported a fly for her children’s book and King rocked a microphone since she’s a news anchor.
Bloom — who accompanied his daughter to the West Texas base on Monday — wasn’t the only celebrity there.
King’s best friend, Oprah Winfrey, was also in attendance and broke down in tears when the rocket made its way into space.
