CHERRY HILL, NJ (AP) — Actor Gary Busey has been charged with sex crimes at a New Jersey fan convention this month.
Cherry Hill police said Saturday that Busse, 78, was charged Friday with four counts of fourth-degree felony sexual contact, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact and one count of assault.
Police said the charges stemmed from crimes at the annual Monster Mania Convention at the Doubletree Hotel in the Philadelphia suburb of Cherry Hill on August 12-14.
Busse, who lives in Malibu, California, was scheduled to be a special guest for all three days of the event.
Police did not immediately respond to a message seeking details. It was also unclear whether Busey has an attorney to comment on the allegations, and a representative did not immediately return a message seeking comment on Saturday.
Busey is widely known as a character actor, mainly in supporting roles, although he came to attention and won the Oscar for Best Actor for playing the title role in the 1978 film “The Buddy Holy Story”. Nominated.
