More like spaghetti bolog-knees-e.
Armie Hammer, eat your heart out. A Spanish social media star shocked and revulsed the masses after revealing that she ate her own knee cartilage during a romantic dinner with her beau.
The influencer described her alleged act of self-cannibalism during an appearance on the 113 Podcast, which currently boasts over 228,000 views on Youtube.
“I wanted to be able to say in my head that I’ve eaten a piece of my own meniscus,” declared Paula Gonu, who’s amassed over 1.48 million YouTube subscribers and 2 million followers on Instagram.
The lifestyle influencer and brand ambassador, who also has nearly 650,000 TikTok followers, regularly posts videos on every subject from fashion to cooking.
However, nothing could compare to her latest culinary exploit, which evoked something out of the Jeffrey Dahmer Netflix series.
The Barcelona native had reportedly just gotten a knee operation following an injury, and opted for a local anesthetic because she wanted to see the procedure in real time on a screen, Jam Press reported.
“He used a camera. He operated through two holes and it was all up on the screen,” she said. “He explained everything to me as he operated.”
Following the procedure, the doctor asked if she wanted to take her meniscus home, to which Gonu agreed.
“I told him, ‘Yes’ and he put what he removed into a small container like those used for urine samples,” said the Spaniard.
She added that he placed her macabre memento in alcohol to preserve it like some sort of grisly serial killer trophy.
Fast forward to a week later and Gonu was having a “jokey” convo with her boyfriend about how she wanted to eat her removed cartilage “because it was part of me and I had to put it back in my body.”
Lo and behold, she put her bum knee where her mouth is. “Then I made a Bolognese and put it in and we ate it,” said Gonu while describing her “offal” decision.
While the details of her Ed Gein-meets-Martha Stewart cooking extravaganza remain unclear, social media balked over the idea of literally having a piece of themselves.
“At what point did I decide that it was a good idea to watch this over dinner?” said one commenter on Youtube.
“My stomach hurt. Now it hurts even more. Thank you,” wrote another.
However, some curious epicures wondered about the logistics of whipping up rigato-knee.
“I’m an Italian near Bologna. How did you put the meniscus in the ragu?” wondered one.
Normally, consuming one’s own knee might sound more appropriate for one of Thomas Harris’ “Hannibal” books than a romantic candlelight dinner.
However, Gonu insists that her stunt was not weird, claiming that everyone has eaten the bones, cartilage and body parts of “worse animals.”
