Kevin Costner’s wife, handbag designer Christine Baumgartner, has filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage to the “Yellowstone” star, The Post has learned.
“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action,” a representative for the 68-year-old actor — already caught up in ongoing drama on his Paramount Network show – confirmed to The Post.
“We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time,” the rep added.
The couple shares three kids: Cayden Wyatt, 15; Hayes Logan, 14; and Grace Avery, 12.
Baumgartner, 49, is asking for joint custody of the kids, according to a TMZ report.
Costner allegedly filed his response Tuesday, in which he also asked for joint custody.
Baumgartner is not asking for spousal support, according to TMZ, though Costner’s response, filed by divorce attorney Laura Wasser, reportedly states there was a prenup: “Spousal support to be payable to petitioner pursuant to the terms of the parties’ Premarital Agreement.”
The Post also contacted Wasser for comment.
Costner’s marriage to Baumgartner was his second.
The “My Bodyguard” star previously married actress Cindy Silva, now 66, in 1978, and they had three children: Annie, now 39, Lily, 36, and Joe, 35, and divorced in 1994.
He also shares a son, Liam, now 27, with actress Bridget Rooney, 61.
For months, Costner has been immersed in other drama — of the backstage sort — on “Yellowstone,” which The Post previously reported will end after five seasons amid alleged tension between the actor and series creator Taylor Sheridan, 52.
Cancellation rumors swirled earlier this year about supposed disagreements over shooting schedules that reportedly caused morale issues between Costner and other actors on the show, which also stars Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille and Gil Birmingham.
Early last month, Paramount executive Keith Cox suggested that Costner still might return to the Western drama.
“What I can say is our star, the face of our show, and executive producer, are very confident he is going to continue with our show,” Cox said at the event, according to a report.
Sheridan’s hit show spawned several spinoffs, including “1883” starring Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill; “1923” with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren; the upcoming “6666,” and another spinoff, whose title has yet to be announced, starring Matthew McConaughey.
