Livvy Dunne reveals her first acting audition came for ‘White Lotus’ — why she didn’t get the part

Retired NCAA gymnast Olivia “Livvy” Dunne said her first in-person acting audition was for the fourth season of “The White Lotus” on HBO, and she did not book the role.

During an interview for April’s Boardroom cover story, Dunne explained that “I felt like I was an athlete again” while auditioning for the dark comedy hotel series.

“I was obviously a bit nervous at first. I was like, ‘Oh man, what if I forget the lines.’ Pause. I’ve done things way harder than this in my life. Whoa. I flipped on a beam in front of 13,500 people,” Dunne told Boardroom co-founder Rich Kleiman.

“It’s different. I think I would rather have done a backflip in front of the casting director, but I mean, I went there, I put it all out there. It was my first audition.

“I didn’t know what to expect, and it was honestly really fun. And I’ve done a few more auditions since. Not in person, but that one was pretty cool. I did enjoy doing it in person. It felt like I was an athlete again.”

Dunne, who is currently filming in Venice Beach for the new “Baywatch” reboot series, explained that she has done “lots of auditions” while working with an acting coach.

“Naturally, I gravitate towards things that are more creative,” Dunne said. “My family is quite creative. I come from a family of entrepreneurs. I would love to dive into acting. I’ve been doing lots of auditions and rehearsing scripts and getting used to that lifestyle, which has been amazing because it’s something I’ve been passionate about ever since I was in college.

“I couldn’t find the balance between being a student athlete and working with brands. So it’s something I took on after college and it’s been so much fun. I have my mom standing there helping me memorize the scripts. I have an amazing acting coach.”

Dunne, who will be making her acting debut, was cast in a recurring role as a lifeguard in the “Baywatch” reboot, coming to Fox during the 2026-27 television season.

The New Jersey native, who continues to capitalize on brand deals and partnerships, turned to modeling at the end of her college career at LSU.

After making her debut with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit in 2023 with a rookie feature in Puerto Rico, Dunne returns to the 2026 SI Swimsuit Issue, set to release next month, in her fourth appearance with the iconic brand.

Dunne announced her retirement from gymnastics in April 2025, following the Tigers’ third-place finish in the NCAA semifinals.

She returned for her fifth and final year of eligibility after helping LSU win a National Championship in 2024.

Dunne, who is dating Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, told Kleiman that she has equity in NOBULL, Tom Brady’s fitness and wellness company with Mike Repole.
