The Ottawa Senators were among the NHL clubs that honored the late Matthew Perry on Saturday following the shocking news of the beloved “Friends” star’s death.
In an emotional message shared on X, the Senators mourned the passing of Perry, whom they called, “One of Ottawa’s proudest sons and the biggest hockey fan.”
In the accompanying video, Perry — who spent part of his childhood in Ottawa, Ontario, before moving to Los Angeles — can be seen wearing a Senators jersey as he waved to the crowd.
An avid hockey fan, Perry also supported the Los Angeles Kings.
The organist at Saturday’s Kings game versus the Vegas Golden Knights played the “Friends” theme song, “I’ll Be There for You” by the Rembrandts, according to video captured by journalist Alexis Tereszcuk.
A similar scene transpired at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, with an organist performing the “Friends” theme song during the third period of Saturday’s Predators game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Perry, who starred as Chandler Bing on “Friends” for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004, died of an apparent drowning at the age of 54.
He was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles-area residence on Saturday.
In a statement to The Post, the Los Angeles Police Department said, “We responded to the 1800 block of Blue Sail Rd for a death investigation on a male 4:10 p.m. this afternoon. He was in his 50s.”
TMZ reported Saturday that no drugs were found at the scene and no foul play is suspected.
In addition to the NHL community, former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III paid tribute to Perry on Saturday.
“Matthew Perry was more than Chandler Bing. He was what made Friends go. Sad to hear of his passing, but thankful for the memories he gave us. Rest in Peace,” Griffin wrote on X.
