From Russia with love — for someone else.
One woman took the liberty of sharing her best friend’s dating nightmare on TikTok, and the tale involves a bizarre twist.
The TikTok user “@emmanoyesmaybe” explained how her best friend discovered that her boyfriend of eight years was dating another woman and living a double life while playing professional hockey in Russia.
When the woman’s friend of 20 years confronted her boyfriend and asked for “closure,” he completely ghosted her and never replied.
“Put a finger down if you’ve ever been together with a man for eight years and this man is the love of your life and he’s also a professional hockey player,” the woman said in the video, which was posted to X by @CatchUpFeed, a source for sharing viral content.
“So one day he gets a contract to go play hockey in Russia and it’s for an insane amount of money. He can’t turn it down, and because you’re supportive so you say, ‘yes babe, go! Go to Russia! Play in Russia!
The woman went on to explain that things were “going so well” between her friend and the athlete — whom she did not name — and that the two would talk every day.
“[They’re] talking about rings and wedding because mind you, you’ve been together for eight years,” she said.
“He says, ‘I can’t wait to see you at the end of February when I come home’ — and finally the end of February rolls around and he disappears.”
The woman said her friend was “freaking out,” and texted her boyfriend’s parents and friends, only to find out that he was on vacation.
“So [she] texted him and said ‘what the f–k, you’re on vacation? What happened?’”
The hockey player responded via text and said, “‘I’m sorry I’m not home yet. I will be home soon.
“‘This is not a good response or a drunk response. I will text you a good response tomorrow.’”
That was the last time she ever heard from him, according to the friend dramatically narrating the story.
The woman said her friend found out that he came home to visit after seeing photos of him in his hometown.
The girlfriend tried to reach out and received no response.
She boxed up his things that she accumulated over the eight-year relationship and wrote him a letter “to get closure” — and still, no response.
When the hockey player went back to Russia for his second season, he posted a photo to social media “with a girl.”
That’s when the girl’s three best friends, who are “FBI agents,” did some digging.
“These girls go in and they figure out everything about this girl… and they figure out the timeline of their relationship and they realize that he and this girl have been together for quite some time… in fact so long that they were together when he was still talking to [their friend] and saying ‘were going to get married.’”
The woman claimed the hockey player proposed to the other woman.
“The last thing I’ll say is, put a finger down if today, Nov. 3, 2023, this man posted a photo of this woman with a ring on her hand.
“This is a true story. It did not happen to me. It happened to my best friend of 20 years.”
The woman ended the video with a message aimed at the hockey player.
“And sir if you are watching, you know who you are and you can rot in hell,” she said.
