Olivia Dunne celebrates LSU gymnastics’ SEC championship

LSU gymnastics star Olivia Dunne was on cloud nine after the Lady Tigers won their fifth conference title Saturday night in New Orleans.

The No. 3 nationally ranked Lady Tigers finished with a top score of 198.075 — the program’s highest at the championships — at the 2024 SEC Championship inside the Smoothie King Center.

Dunne and her teammates celebrated in the locker room, as seen in videos and photos the 21-year-old top NIL earner shared on social media.

“SEC CHAMPS BABYYY,” Dunne captioned a TikTok video, which showed the purple and yellow confetti celebration and the SEC Championships trophy.

“Oh my goodness!!!!” the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model wrote on Instagram, including a photo of the team huddled around the trophy, with Dunne appearing to kiss it.

The Tigers, who finished the regular season as the No. 1 team in the conference, started the competition on vault, then rotated to bars and beam before they finished on floor. 

Kiya Johnson led the team on bars and scored a 9.825, while Ashley Cowan matched her career high in the second spot with a 9.950. 

Dunne, a New Jersey native, competed in the third spot for her second appearance on bars this year and scored 9.800.

The Lady Tigers finished beam with their second highest score in program history, 49.475.

LSU tallied 49.450 on bars, which was the second highest on the event by LSU at the conference championships.

This marked the LSU gymnastics program’s fifth SEC Championship title in program history — including the inaugural conference title in 1981 followed by three consecutive titles from 2017 to 2019.

Haleigh Bryant, Ashley Cowan, Konnor McClain, KJ Johnson and Kiya Johnson combined for five individual SEC champions in the competition.

Next up is the the 2024 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas in April.
