Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi’s recent move to the UK will not come between their friendship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to a new report.
The comedian, 66, and the “Arrested Development” alum, 51, packed up and moved to the Cotswolds in England, leaving their Montecito, Calif., lifestyle behind.
The duo, who wed in 2004, grew close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after the royals moved to the neighborhood following their exit from royal life in 2020.
As they get accustomed to life in the UK, it appears as though Harry and the “Suits” alum, 43, are planning to “stay close” to the couple despite their trans-Atlantic move, a source told InTouch.
“Harry has already been giving them all sorts of advice on the Cotswolds,” a source told the outlet. “The vibe there is very similar to Montecito, just with a whole lot more rain, and Harry knows it quite well.”
The insider added that for the Sussexes, losing their close pals to England was “pretty upsetting.”
“Ellen and Portia have been absolute rocks for Meghan and Harry from the moment they moved to California,” the source went on.
“They helped them get settled in Montecito and introduced them to so many great people, they’re such a huge part of Meghan and Harry’s circle.”
The insider added that Harry and the former actress “totally understand why they’re leaving; they’ve toyed with the idea themselves since the election,” referring to Donald Trump’s election win over Vice President Kamala Harris last month.
“The silver lining, at least as far as Harry’s concerned, is that Meghan might actually agree to go over the UK to visit them,” the source added.
“Knowing that she’d have Ellen and Portia’s support over there would be a real help and might be enough to get her to change her mind about never setting foot there again.”
DeGeneres recently dispelled rumors that her and de Rossi’s English countryside home had flooded following Storm Bert in the UK.
