Prince William is being slammed on social media for his treatment of Kate Middleton during their royal walkabout with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Saturday.
Royal fans were left surprised and thrilled over the weekend when the “Fab Four” reunited outside Windsor Castle.
The family members greeted well-wishers and admired floral tributes and cards left to honor Queen Elizabeth II, who died at age 96 on Thursday.
When the two couples left and got in the same car, social media users were left agog at the brothers’ distinctly different behavior.
As they prepared to depart, Harry, 37, gallantly opened the door for his 41-year-old wife, who mouthed her thanks.
The Duke of Sussex then shut the door behind the “Suits” alum before going around the other side of the car to get inside himself.
The former military pilot’s chivalrous behavior stood in sharp contrast to his 40-year-old brother, who didn’t bother to open the car door for Middleton, also 40.
“#PrinceHarry always protecting his precious better half #MeghanMarkle ❤️ A prince through and through 🤴🏻,” one Twitter user gushed.
Another noted, “I love how Harry opened the door for his wife and made sure she was inside the car before getting in the car himself. A true gentleman 🥰♥️”.
“Prince Harry opening & closing the door for his wife, Princess Diana would be proud,” a third person tweeted.
Royal watchers also ripped William for the yawning gap between him and Middleton when they first got out of the car, comparing their distance to Harry and Markle’s hand-holding.
“Where in hell is #Catherine?” one social media user wrote. “A picture speaks a thousand words! Such distance between her and her husband. Such a big gap! Did #Kate walk before her husband #PrinceWilliam? Awkward!”
The foursome’s unexpected appearance marked the first time the two couples have all been photographed in public together since a service marking Commonwealth Day on March 9, 2020.
William extended the invite to his estranged brother and sister-in-law at the “eleventh hour,” according to royal reporter Omid Scobie.
Scobie add that the invitation was, “without a doubt, a significant moment in the history of the relationship between the two brothers.”
