Travis Kelce’s numbers have supported claims that the Chiefs tight end plays better with girlfriend Taylor Swift in attendance, but this weekend, the 34-year-old will be on his own.
Swift doesn’t plan to travel for Kansas City’s divisional matchup against the Broncos on Sunday as she prepares for her “Eras Tour” to resume Nov. 9, according to TMZ Sports.
The singer became a popular presence at four of the Chiefs’ past five games — all wins — while supporting Kelce and appearing to become friends with Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, in their suite.
There was the Arrowhead Stadium game against the Bears in Week 3, the MetLife Stadium cameo seven days later and then two more games in Kansas City, and for each of those games, broadcasts panned to Swift for reactions throughout the game.
At their most recent game, when Kelce caught 12 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers, Swift wore an “87” friendship bracelet (Kelce’s number) and broke out a handshake with Brittany during one celebration.
Then, the pair reportedly exited together and went back to Kelce’s mansion for a postgame celebration with others.
When his brother, Jason, mentioned the CBS graphic containing stats with and without Swift in attendance, Kelce — after joking that he couldn’t believe he didn’t know about that stat — responded on their “New Heights” podcast that it’s “hard for me to wrap my head around” how his performance improved with the star watching.
Swift’s next tour date — when the Grammy Award-winner performs in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Nov. 9 — coincides with the Chiefs’ bye week, and Kelce reportedly plans to visit and attend the show, Entertainment Tonight reported last week.
“Travis and Taylor are very serious about their careers, and the two bond over that and want to show support for each other whenever they can,” an anonymous source told the outlet.
People Magazine also reported Friday that the budding romance between Kelce and Swift has quickly turned “more serious.”
And while Swift prepares for her tour to resume, Kelce spent Friday night at Globe Life Field for Game 1 of the World Series between the Rangers and Diamondbacks, which Texas won in 11 innings after Corey Seager’s two-run homer tied it in the ninth and Adolis Garcia’s walk-off blast won it two frames later.
When the videoboard showed him and played Swift’s hit “Shake It Off,” Kelce started dancing.
