Tigers-Guardians broadcast gets a bit weird during bachelorette party

So a bachelorette party goes to a baseball game …

No, that’s not the beginning of a joke.

Rather it’s part of an awkward moment during the broadcast of Sunday’s Tigers-Guardians game on Bally Sports Detroit.

The video posted online by Awful Announcing begins with play-by-play announcer Matt Shepard reading a promo in the bottom of the fourth inning with left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez facing Guardians left fielder Steven Kwan.

While hearing Shepard’s voice, fans at home are shown a woman in the stands who’s wearing a Guardians jersey and a cap with a veil on the back.

After completing the promo, and with the video back on the current at-bat, Shepard said, “She’s about to get married, right? That’s why she’s got that outfit on, right? And she’s at a baseball game. Good for her.”

The video feed briefly cuts to a second shot of the women in stands before returning to game action.

The broadcast then goes back to the woman a third time and pushes in tight and shows her drinking a beer.

That prompted Shepard to say, “Nothing sexier than a girl drinking a Leinenkugel.”

The comments gave the guys in the broadcast booth a good chuckle before returning to the game.

The Tigers and Guardians haven’t had much to laugh about this season with both clubs below .500 and falling further behind the AL Central-leading Twins.

One bright spot for Detroit is Rodriguez, who gave up one earned run in 6 2/3 innings of work to lead the Tigers to a 4-1 win.

In the process, he picked up his ninth win of the season and lowered his ERA to 3.03
