Travis Kelce’s movie career kicks off with the help of President Biden

Fresh off a Super Bowl win, Travis Kelce is on his way to Hollywood.

Or, at least, to Austin, Texas.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, and famous boyfriend of pop star Taylor Swift, will make his movie producing debut as an executive producer of the new indie “My Dead Fried Zoe,” which will have its world premiere at the South By Southwest in early March.

The dramedy directed by Kyle Hausmann-Stokes stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Natalie Morales, Ed Harris, Morgan Freeman, and is about a veteran reuniting with her Vietnam vet dad — while having conversations with her deceased best friend.

Interestingly, the film was financed with the help of green energy tax credits through President Biden’s 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.

According to Variety, it’s the first film to do so.

“Hollywood is risky, right? On a scale of one to 10, Hollywood, it is a 9.5. Especially in terms of independent film,” “My Dead Friend Zoe” producer Ray Maiello, who runs Radiant Media Studios, told the trade publication. “These federal tax credits take the risk down to like a five.”

Kelce, 34, was asked only a week ago at a press conference if he envisioned a future for himself in Hollywood — onscreen.

“I know there’s definitely Hollywood talks out there,” he said. “But I’ve been focussed on football throughout the season, so I’ll probably have a lot of those meetings and conversations when it’s all said and done.”

His top pick for a genre?

“Comedy all the way,” Kelce said.

But, he added, “I’ll dabble into everything though, just to see if I have fun doing it.”

Kelce guest hosted on “Saturday Night Live” last March, and soon after became represented by Creative Artists Agency. He also made a surprise appearance on “SNL” in October.

Swift, 34, has already become an increasingly prominent movie fixture. Besides acting roles in “The Giver,” “Cats” and “Amsterdam,” the singer also produced last year’s “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” which made $261 million at the global box office.

“My Dead Friend Zoe” premieres March 9 at the South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin.
