I had the bachelorette party from hell — it got ruined by a major storm and fire

This bachelorette party was (on) fire.

Thought rain on your wedding day was bad? How about a storm at your bachelorette party? A UK bridesmaid is going viral after recounting the prenuptial party from hell — in which her tent got destroyed by winds, and the ground was set on fire, as detailed in a TikTok video with 19,000 views.

“It felt cursed from the start looking back on it all now,” cousin of the bride George Pattinson, 26, told Jam Press of the ill-fated pre-nuptial shindig.

The Somerset native had reportedly planned a “beautifl bell tent with a hot tub” in Cornwall for bride-to-be Ellie Forte, 27.

As her previous bridesmaid hoedowns had been canceled, she wanted to make sure this one was extra special.

Little did she know, her dream soiree would literally turn into a monsoon pre-wedding.

The shindig went south before it began after a storm moved in while the revelers were en route to the campsite.

“Firstly, the bell tent was situated on top of a steep field, and it had already been raining for a few hours, and we couldn’t get the car up the hill as it was skidding and drifting in the mud,” Pattinson lamented. “Secondly, the bride and two bridesmaids ventured out in the storm to the compost toilet that was a couple of yards away — on the way back to the tent.”

The bachelorette party.
“We were all sitting around playing drinking games and having a laugh when the bedside tables, fridge, and our drinks were knocked over inside because of how strong the wind was, even inside the tent,” said bridesmaid George Pattinson while recalling the bachelorette party from hell.

At one point, the bride, who was gussied up in white, slipped and fell in the mud like a scene out of Burning Man 2023.

Conditions weren’t much better inside the tent, where “a large puddle of water” had started to form next to the electrical sockets and doorway amid the downpour, according to Pattinson.

The party tried to pass the time by playing drinking games and laughing, only to have their bedside tables, drinks and fridge knocked over by the lashing winds.

Shortly thereafter, “the A-frame of the bell tent suddenly bent and caved in on itself and the fabric of the tent ripped open,” Pattison recalled.

Hoping to salvage the situation, some members tried to hold up the tent frame while others ran out to alert the campsite owner, as seen in the hilarious footage.

“This is the worst hen-do ever,” one member can be heard exclaiming as the canvas collapses on top of her.

“After it had all calmed down and we got over the shock, two bridesmaids decided to sleep in the car and the hen and the other two bridesmaids felt safe enough to sleep on the bed in the wet and ripped tent,” Pattinson recalled.

As the wind had also upended the site’s other tents, the party had to fend for themselves in the storm for two hours before the owner arrived — by which point their belongings had been thoroughly drenched.

“By the time the owner arrived to get us a new frame ourselves and all our stuff [was] soaking wet and cold,” Pattinson recounted. “We wanted to leave in the middle night but we couldn’t as the hill was so muddy and wet we were not going to risk skidding and crashing in the dark.”

She added, “After it had all calmed down and we got over the shock, two bridesmaids decided to sleep in the car and the hen and the other two bridesmaids felt safe enough to sleep on the bed in the wet and ripped tent.”

As if the party wasn’t apocalyptic enough, the next day, the festivities literally went up in smoke.

The unfortunate party girls reportedly tried to light the stove with a gas canister, which started to leak, setting the stove and ground alight. Accompanying footage shows the frantic revelers putting out the blaze like something out of a gender reveal party.

“At this point, nothing else could shock us as it was just one bad thing after the other!” added the beleaguered bridesmaid, who said she and other gals left three days early to recover at home.

The bride-to-be Forte chimed in, “Safe to say me and hen do’s don’t belong together.”

Fortunately, the wedding went much more smoothly: Pattinson’s cousin tied the knot with fiancé, Ryan Evans, 28, in Quantock Lakes on August 24, marking a beautiful end to an otherwise nightmarish ordeal.

Despite the “stress and panic” they suffered during the party, Pattinson claims she’s grateful for the experience as the group had a “hilarious time.”

Forte seconded her sentiment: “I wouldn’t have changed a thing, we laughed numerous times until I threw up and I had the best, funniest memories to last me a lifetime.”
