I spy a cheater.
Private investigator Charlotte Notley, from Norwich, England, revealed several signs indicating your partner could be cheating.
“You know your partner the best, so if something feels off, then it probably is,” the PI told NeedToKnow. “Most clients who come to us know there is something not right and they usually are correct.”
Notley, 32, an expert in detecting deceitful behavior in relationships, advises clients to keep a watchful eye on their partner’s internet usage and do surprise visits to work.
“If you feel concerned, ask your partner to reassure you and your trust,” she suggested. “If you are still not satisfied, then trust your instinct.”
And if your gut is telling you to go through their phone, Notley seconds the act, especially if they hide their phones.
When your partner is not around, don’t be afraid to “check for changes in their social media, [such as] new followers and friends.”
The UK investigator adds that checking their browsing history and previous destinations on navigation apps can also reveal some intriguing information.
“Secretive behavior is a key indicator for any relationship as trust must always be there,” she said.
A major red flag she notices in relationships is a distant partner with extended periods of “[time] away without much of an explanation.”
Infidelity occurs in between 20%-25% of marriages, according to Couples Academy. The survey explains hunger, anger, loneliness and tiredness can contribute to a broken relationship.
When you notice your partner’s behavior has changed, Notley recommends poking around to see what you can discover, even if it means doing an unexpected pop-up.
“Make a surprise visit to your partner’s work or usual place they should be,” she admitted.
However, if your investigation skills aren’t giving you with the answers you’re looking for, it may be time to hire a professional.
The 32-year-old admits hiring an expert can provide you with faster results, but they aren’t able to access as much personal information as you think.
“Private Investigators cannot go through someone’s phone or breach any UK GDPR laws, therefore it is only for the case of if your partner is physically spending time with someone else that a PI can help” Notley shared.
However, someone looking to capture footage of their double-crossing partner for a divorce case should reconsider the service because those files can’t be used in a court case.
“Having evidence of your partner cheating will not assist in any divorce or legal proceedings, but it will give you peace of mind one way or another,” Notley mentioned.
One woman requested surveillance from the PI on her husband, who she felt was unfaithful, and found out he was only enjoying alone time in his car, drinking coffee and reading a book.
“He was being dishonest about it, but he certainly wasn’t having an affair,” Notley quipped.
