A new version of the classic card game Uno has been released and if the original didn’t end friendships, this one will.
Appropriately titled Uno: Show ‘Em No Mercy, this takes the classic game and dials it up to one hundred with new cards and rules.
The new cards are a Wild Reverse Draw 4, which allows players to change the color, reverse the order and whoever is next has to pick up four cards.
There’s also a Draw 10 card just to make it worse.
Another new card and arguably the most powerful card in the game is the Skip Everyone card. This allows players to immediately take another turn and skip everyone.
Discard All is another new card, where all players must look in their hand and discard all cards that match the Discard All card’s color.
The game also has some new rules, such as the swapping 7s and passing 0s, along with making stacking an official rule.
But what makes this game brutal is the new Mercy Rule.
This rule states that any players who have 25 or more cards are automatically kicked from the game and eliminated. This allows players to potentially win by being the last one standing.
It didn’t take long for the game to blow up on social media, with many posting on TikTok of their excitement at playing the game and their dread of the new cards.
“So Uno had come out with a new game and the name of the new game is called No Mercy and they were not kidding around when they made it no mercy,” a TikToker said in a video.
“This is gonna change Uno forever and this is gonna break up friendship.”
He points to the Draw 10 card on the game’s cover, along with other new cards such as the Wild Reverse Draw 4 one and reiterates how brutal this new game is.
“If I ever played this game with somebody and they drop a plus 10 on the thing, and they start slapping down other cards with it, it’s a fight on [sight],” he said.
“I’m going to jail that day. When the judge asked me why I’m gonna blame Uno.”
Others in the comments shared his sentiments, with many agreeing that friendships are going to be broken.
“No one wants to sit next to me in Uno. I don’t play to win, I play to watch everyone else suffer,” one person commented.
“Regular Uno damn near broke up my family. Imagine Uno No Mercy,” another wrote.
Another added: “Dude me and my siblings would have started throwing hands.”
Another commented: “Family game nights are about to get violent.”
The game immediately sold out in the United States, with many resales popping up on eBay.
