He has the right to remain a multi-millionaire.
A retired San Francisco cop is making literal bank from his one-time side hustle managing ATM machines — Paul Alex’s now full-time job earns him over $8 million annually.
Alex, a former detective who found himself taking home as little as $2,000 per paycheck while serving the beleaguered Bay Area burg, got into the cash dispensing business around 2018 to supplement his income, purchasing a singular ATM for just $2,100.
The law-ntrepreneur installed his first machine inside of a nail salon, where it soon yielded him a $500 monthly profit.
In an Instagram video that has now gone viral, the savvy 35-year-old details his journey — and talks about how he was initially met with a great deal of skepticism.
“Since I started my ATM business 6 years ago, people have been telling me ATMs were obsolete or that I was 20 years too late,” he captioned the post.
“Funny enough, my business has been consistently generating over $10,000/month in net profit. Still to this day. And I see no sign of it slowing down any time soon,” he boasted.
By 2021, Alex, then a narcotics task force leader, was pulling in enough money to leave the force and dedicate himself to his new gig, forming the company ATMTogether, designed to help others start a business just like he did.
“I didn’t have any personal freedom,” Alex told Business Insider. “I was neglecting my personal life. I wasn’t hanging around my family who I love. I’m a big family guy. And at the end of the day, I realized, this can’t be life.”
Alex, who makes his rounds in a Porsche hotrod and sleeps in a swanky penthouse, credits a close companion for the necessary push to hop into the then-criticized business.
“All this started from a friend of mine, giving me an idea, and then me taking that idea and doing my due diligence and just researching it, buying books, watching videos, reading, reading, reading to the point where I was comfortable enough to execute it on my own.”
He now owns 30 ATMs nationwide and offers mentorship classes on how to shatter financial hurdles and pin down success.
“Invest in yourself,” he said. “Self-education is everything.”
