Denmark’s Queen Margrethe announced Dec. 31 that she would be stepping down as her county’s monarch, handing over the reigns to her son, Crown Prince Frederik.

In the week since, many people have speculated that King Charles, 75, could soon do the same — but one expert said it’s simply not happening.

“There is no way Charles will be abdicating anytime soon — zero chance, zip, ain’t gonna happen,” royal author Christopher Andersen told Fox News on Saturday.

The “Game of Crowns” author added: “Not only has Charles waited far longer than anyone else to ascend to the throne… he can also point to the example set by his mother, Queen Elizabeth.”

:During an 18-month period in 2013 and 2014, there was a flurry of abdications,” Andersen added. “Seventy-five-year-old Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands handed the crown to her son Prince Willem-Alexander, 45.”

He then explained how King Albert II of Belgium was 79 when he abdicated for his son Crown Prince Philippe, 53. In June 2014, 76-year-old King Juan Carlos of Spain gave his crown to son Prince Felipe, 46.

“I can say with certainty that abdication is not in the cards,” Andersen said.

In modern times, the only other abdication that occurred in England was in 1936.

Charles’ great-uncle Edward VIII was king for just 11 months before he relinquished the throne so he could marry American socialite Wallis Simpson.

He then handed the monarchy over to his younger brother, Queen Elizabeth’s father, King George VI.

Queen Margrethe, 83, has reigned Denmark for 52 years, taking charge when her King Frederik IX passed in 1972.

In her New Year’s speech, the royal made the shocking announcement, citing that her recent back issues have contributed to her decision to resign.

“I have decided that now is the right time. On 14th January, 2024 — 52 years after I succeeded my beloved father — I will step down as Queen of Denmark. I will hand over the throne to my son Crown Prince Frederik,” she said.
