Bride-to-be asked to tip after buying her wedding dress: ‘Tipping culture is out of control’

When asked to leave a tip for her wedding dress, she reluctantly said, “I do.”

An engaged woman was left mortified after being guilted into leaving a gratuity at the boutique where she bought her bridal gown.

Ina Josipović, 30, vented about the wedding woe in a video shared to TikTok, which has garnered more than 300,000 views since it was posted last month.

The Salt Lake City resident didn’t disclose the name or location of the store where she was asked to leave the gratuity, but many viewers were angered by the story, which comes amid widespread “tipflation.”

“Can we talk about tipping culture and the weirdest place that you’ve ever been asked to tip?” Josipović asked at the outset of her clip.

“I went shopping for my wedding dress, like, a week and a half ago, and I ended up finding my dress at the first store that I went to. I’m not joking, when I went to go pay, they flipped their little iPad around and it asked for a tip.”

Josipović explained that she and her pal were the only two people inside the boutique, along with three employees and the owner.

The bride-to-be didn’t explicitly reveal how much her dress cost — but hinted that the price was approximately $3,500. A 20% tip on that dress would have been an additional $700.

In the end, Josipović left a custom tip of $50, which she estimated was about 1.5% of the dress’ total cost.

Although she admitted that she received excellent service, she was left fuming about the expectation of leaving a gratuity.

“If you guys think your stylist deserves a tip, why don’t you just give her commission instead of asking me to tip?” Josipović asked in the clip.

Viewers shared her frustration, with one writing: “I literally have no shame just pressing no tip.”

“I am on the no-tip plan for most things nowadays other than waitstaff, salons, and misc helpful people,” another wrote. “I’m ok saying no.”

A third fumed: “The tipping culture in the US is out of control”
