Emma O’Donnell, a mom influencer who goes by @a_mothers_tale online, revealed a “magic” cleaning hack that has other moms gasping over all the clothes they could have saved.
In the 34-second clip posted in March, the mother of four boys tested the at-home stain removal remedy.
“Apparently boiling water on any fruit stain, doesn’t matter what fruit stain it is, literally anything, is like magic. I want to see if it works,” Emma explained in her video with over 194,500 views.
The Scottish mom discovered the hack could save her a lot of time and money.
Once her kettle reached a boiling point, she placed the infant’s onesies above her kitchen sink and poured the hot liquid on the stain.
“Oh my god, stop it, can you see that? Gone!” O’Donnell, 37, shouted as the red stain slowly faded away, disappearing from the beige fabric.
She tested another clothing piece that had two stains that instantly vanished, too.
Her experiment revealed that boiling water can remove fruit stains from clothes, but she didn’t specify which fruits were removed from her kids’ clothing.
Meanwhile, TikTok moms applauded O’Donnell for sharing the stained tip, realizing they could have removed so many stains with this advice.
“Am I seriously just finding this out after I’ve had four kids & thrown out so many clothes over the years,” sighed one mom.
“Wow how do I not know this? My daughters fave fruit is watermelon and strawberries,” admitted a watcher.
“I’ve saved so many baby clothes like this,” praised a guilty mother.
“If this works on orange stains I will love you forever!” gushed another.
Some moms quickly jumped on the hack and experimented but got disappointing results.
“I tried yesterday on watermelon, it didn’t work. But works perfectly on strawberries!” commented one woman.
“Doesn’t work if the item has already been washed. Tried it on a few things,” confessed an experimenter.
Cleaning experts from Inspired Housewife agreed that boiled water is a helpful hack.
“Boiled water is a simple and effective stain fighter,” the site read, claiming the tip can treat blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and strawberries.
