Hikari Saito and Yuta Matsumoto weren’t going to take any chances.
The two Shohei Ohtani fans bought tickets to Friday night’s Dodgers vs. Rangers game about a month ago specifically to get their hands on the superstar’s newest bobblehead, and in order to make sure they got their copies of the souvenirs, they got to Dodger Stadium early.
Roughly eight hours before first pitch early.
The Japanese natives told The California Post they flew into LA from San Francisco on Friday morning, and then immediately made the trek to Chavez Ravine to ensure they wouldn’t miss out on the Dodgers’ latest Ohtani-themed giveaway.
The two sat outside the stadium on a sidewalk for several hours, before they then walked up to the venue’s gates and waited even more.
They, however, both said getting their hands on the trinkets would be worth every second.
“My dad’s, like, a huge fan of him,” Saito said. “So, I was, like, I have to get him for him.”
The wildest part about the scene is that Saito and Matsumoto were not even close to the only ones with the idea.
Dozens of people were spotted waiting near the “Welcome to Dodger Stadium” sign as many as five hours before the game’s 7:10 p.m. start time.
Two of those, Dodgers fans Jonathan Shakibai and Jack Ray, told The Post the bobblehead was “why we’re here.”
“I collect bobbleheads,” Shakibai said. “This is actually my first [Ohtani] one. I never had an Ohtani bobblehead before.”
Compared to how Dodger Stadium looked when the Yoshinobu Yamamoto “Yoshi” figurines were given away on March 31, the crowds were surprisingly tame. Hundreds, not thousands, patiently waited at gates, and there was no drama to be found.
There was speculation among those in the sea of people that because the Dodgers promised 54,000 fans would get a copy, semblances of chaos were unnecessary.

The bobblehead pays homage to Ohtani’s brilliant performance in Game 4 of the Dodgers’ NLCS matchup with the Brewers.
During the contest, Ohtani belted three home runs while pitching six scoreless innings, and the new figurine of the designated hitter shows him mid-swing on a platform that reads “3 HR.”
It comes with a removable bat and a box that has the words “Ohtani’s Masterpiece” written on it.
The piece will get a “Part 2” companion in July, when the Dodgers give out a second bobblehead honoring Ohtani’s mound heroics.
Those who weren’t able to hit Dodger Stadium on Friday will still have a chance to make the piece a part of their collection, as several were already listed for sale on eBay prior to the game even getting underway.
They won’t come cheap, however — an eye-watering $150 was the common price tag.
