Gracie Hunt’s mother, Tavia, pulled out all the stops to throw her a lavish “bridesmaids proposal and engagement party” in Dallas on Friday.
Taking to Instagram, Gracie, the daughter of billionaire Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, shared the behind-the-scenes of the champagne celebration after getting engaged to Derek Green, the son of former Chiefs quarterback Trent Green, last month.
Gracie shared that she has 14 bridesmaids, including her sister, Ava Hunt, who will serve as maid of honor, and Derek’s sister, Janelle Green, a volleyball player at the University of Toledo.
Kayla Sharples, a center back for the Kansas City Current, the NWSL team co-owned by Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany, is a bridesmaid.
Derek’s mom, Julie Green, attended the party.
“Looking around this room [Friday], I couldn’t help but thank God for the way He so intentionally placed each one of these amazing women (& @mr.austinryde) into my life,” Gracie wrote in an Instagram carousel post, referring Austin Ryde, a Los Angeles-based makeup artist and photographer.
“Through every season, they’ve loved me, prayed for me, encouraged me, challenged me, and helped shape me into who I am today. I truly would not be the same without them.”
“There is something so special about being surrounded by women who make you feel stronger, wiser, softer, and closer to Jesus just by knowing them. My heart is overwhelmingly grateful for each of these friendships and the gift of getting to do life together. Forever thankful for my squad 🤍.”
Gracie, formerly Miss Kansas USA, thanked her mom, Tavia, for throwing the event in another Instagram carousel post.
“Still can’t get over how special this day felt 🥹,” she wrote. “Every little detail was so thoughtful and full of love, and I know how much time, energy, and heart went into making it all happen. Thank you @TaviaHunt for planning the most beautiful bridesmaids proposal and engagement party. I’m forever thankful for this season, these memories, and the people who make life so sweet 🤍.”
Gracie wore a white mini dress with silver bows by Cinq à Sept, a clothing brand based in New York.
Her diamond necklace was from Dallas-based jeweler Lyles DeGrazier, where Derek got her engagement ring.
Bella Flora, a floral and event company, was behind the decor and flowers.
Gracie made her and Derek’s relationship public in an Instagram post last May.
Derek played quarterback for Southern Methodist University, a private university in Dallas, from 2018-2021, before he transferred to Long Island University in 2022.
Gracie and her Clark both attended SMU.
