Aussie tennis legend Pat Cash has revealed he is engaged to “soulmate” Charlotte Hodson.
The Melbourne-born star, 61, famously triumphed at Wimbledon in 1987 with a straight sets win over World No. 1 Ivan Lendl.
Last year, he attended Wimbledon alongside Hodson, 54, as the couple went public for the first time in the royal box.
Now Cash has taken to social media to confirm his engagement to the singer-songwriter and massage therapist.
“Every now and then, life can surprise you in the very best way,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’m so incredibly lucky to know that through an amazing string of coincidences I found my soulmate.
“I can’t help but believe God had it all planned to perfection. She said yes,” followed by engagement ring and heart emojis.
Cash had two children — a son and daughter — with Norwegian model Anne-Britt Kristiansen in his early 20s.
He married Brazilian Emily Bendit in 1990 and had twin boys, before the couple divorced in 2002.
In 2010, he became a grandfather at the age of 44 when his daughter gave birth.
Four year later, he opened up about his struggles with mental health, and revealed his children saved his life.
“If it wasn’t for my kids, I might have killed myself. I suffered from severe depression from the age of 19 until 35,” Cash told The Guardian:
“It’s no secret I experimented with drugs when I was younger, but the real issue was why I felt the need to. It was down to the stress I was under playing for my country, the expectations I put on myself and the expectations people put on me. I ended up checking into rehab for depression. Things got better when I retired from playing professionally.”
