Interactive ‘Dune’ exhibit coming to LA with unseen movie footage, original props and ‘colossal’ sandworms

Travel all the way to Arrakis — without leaving California.

A new interactive exhibit in Downtown LA invites Dune fans to step into the world of the sci-fi franchise, offering an immersive experience featuring original props, costumes and unseen footage from the films.

Dune: The Experience will run from late November to February in Downtown LA’s Arts District at 330 S Alameda Street.

The exhibit comes just in time for the release of the third Dune film, Dune: Messiah, which hits theaters on December 18.

The experience will bring to life some of the most iconic elements of the triology, including authentic props used on screen like Paul Atreides’ throne and a Navigator’s sarcophagus.

Dune: The Experience will feature about a dozen rooms, including a screening venue showing unseen footage from the films, and an exclusive interview with Director Denis Villeneuve.

Interactive elements will also be on-site, including the chance to learn the Fremen sidewalk and take on the iconic Bene Gesserit test by sticking your hand into the mysterious box.

“I don’t want to spoil exactly what happens when you put your hand in the box, but it is intended to be somewhat shocking, participatory and to put people on edge,” Rob Shalhoub, a team lead at Fever, who is producing the experience along with Legendary Entertainment, told the LA Times.

“It really immerses you into the intensity of these films, where you’re up close and personal with these characters.”

The experience will feature a bar serving Dune-themed cocktails and bites, along with exclusive merchandise for sale.

Attendees can even snap a photo with a “colossal” sandworm or put their navigational skills to the test by making their way through a labyrinth guided by floating glowglobes.

Tickets for “Dune: The Experience” go on sale Oct. 7 at 9 a.m., with prices ranging from $30 to $45.
