King Charles has ‘enjoyed’ ‘The Crown’ but new season will be ‘awkward’: royal expert

King Charles may be canceling his Netflix subscription soon.

The British monarch, 73, was once a fan of the streamer’s hit series “The Crown,” according to a royal expert who revealed that the upcoming Season 5 won’t be on his watch list.

Royal author Katie Nicholl explained to Entertainment Tonight that she doesn’t believe Charles will be binge-watching the season’s premiere on Nov. 9.

“We don’t know if the King is going to watch this series,” she said.

“I can tell you, that he’s watched previous seasons of ‘The Crown’ and enjoyed it. I think the last series was a little too close to the bone as well.”

Season 5 will follow the royal family through tumultuous times of the early to mid-1990s, and will include events such as the breakdown of Charles and his late ex-wife Princess Diana’s marriage as well as his relationship with his mistress and now-wife Camilla, Queen Consort.

“I think that was just such a low moment for the royal family,” Nicholl said about the Wales’ constant battle with themselves and the media.

She went on: “I mean, Charles admitting adultery, and this was the sort of war of the Wales’ being played out in spectacular fashion in the tabloids.”

The “Vanity Fair” contributor added: “And then, on camera, in different interviews,” she added. “I think it probably an awkward moment, but whether the king is going to see it, we may never find out.”

While Diana’s tragic death in a car crash in 1997 won’t be mentioned until next year’s Season 6, the chain of events will, in fact, be shown in the newest slew of episodes next month.

Her children Prince William and Prince Harry essentially may also not be viewing the show, as reliving their mom’s harrowing last moments “are going to be very, very uncomfortable for them” to watch,” she added.

“This is a period that they had to live out so publicly. We heard Harry talk about the very real impact it’s had on his life, and William as well,” Nicholl noted. “So, for this to sort of be revisited, even if it’s done tastefully … for this to be brought up all over again is incredibly hard for William and Harry.”

She continued: “[There is] a sense that, really, their mother’s ghost can’t ever be laid to rest for them,” she added. “I think [that] is really still something that’s very real and very difficult for them.”

One major moment in royal history that will be featured in Season 5, will be the infamous “Tampongate” that occurred between Charles and Camilla. The tabloids revealed a secretly-recorded conversation between the couple in 1993, where Charles had admitted he wanted to “live inside” the latter’s pants and basically be a tampon.
