I left a candle burning — now my TV is ruined

A TikToker has warned fans of television and aromatherapy not to mix the two after allegedly wrecking her TV screen with a burning candle.

TikTok user @rachelgray.ok posted the video last week, which has since gained 1.5 million views.

“I’ve ruined our tv fml,” she wrote in the caption — adding over the video, “Don’t put a candle under your TV.”

The viral video shows a very small whitish-yellow mark where the flame had been situated below the wall-mounted television.

The TikToker claimed she was “sleep deprived” after one viewer suggested she had been careless in the comments. “Good information, but I do not understand how people don’t think about simple things these days??” they wrote.

Several others chastised the woman, saying that she should have known better.

“How are folk actually not figuring this out without stupidly doing it in the first place,” said one user.

“I’ve ruined our tv fml,” wrote the user in the video caption.

“I would say don’t put a candle under anything? I mean… it’s fire,” remarked a third person. “Ummmm glad you didn’t burn your house down at least. This time. “

Some came to her defense, characterizing the incident as an honest mistake.

“Sadly I had this [you] live and learn experience too,” one wrote.

“I did this to my computer screen lol,” another chimed in. “Glad I’m not alone.”

Meanwhile, the accident prompted some to rethink their own candle placement.

“Thanks bestie, gotta go remove mine now,” one user wrote.

“Brb going to move my candle,” commented another.
