Stephen “tWitch” Boss left a suicide note that vaguely alluded to old challenges he faced, according to a report Friday.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the beloved “Ellen DeGeneres Show” DJ left the note in his Los Angeles motel room, where he set his phone to airplane mode to make sure concerned family and friends could not find him.
It made an ambiguous nod to past challenges, according to the outlet, which said it was unclear exactly what he was referring to.
The 40-year-old father of three seemingly took an Uber from his home early Monday to the Oak Tree Inn motel, which was less than a mile from his $4 million Encino home, TMZ noted.
Unable to reach him, his wife, Allison Holker — a pro dancer who met Boss on “So You Think You Can Dance” — frantically raced to an LAPD precinct to raise the alarm over his unusual behavior.
A motel worker then found his body Tuesday.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner confirmed the cause of death as suicide by a gunshot to the head with “no signs of foul play.” The case was officially closed.
Boss and Holker had recently celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary.
They had three children: Zaia, 3, Maddox, 6, and 14-year-old Weslie, Holker’s daughter from a previous relationship whom Boss adopted.

“Stephen lit up every room he stepped into,” Holker said in a heartbreaking statement confirming her husband’s death.
“He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”
