The Rodgers family reunion has partially come down to the quarterback’s mystery wife.
In an interview with NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt on Saturday, Aaron Rodgers shared more behind his decision to reunite with his near-decade estranged family and found it “special” to have wife Brittani through it all.
“I’m happy to be reunited and that part of my life is a really beautiful addition and I got to give my wife a lot of credit — not that she was pushing me, because she never was, but just the way that she loves and supports me,” Rodgers said. “Having her by my side during this process has been really special, and I miss those relationships. And there’s reasons for it that don’t need to be talked about but I’m thankful that that’s come all the way back around.”
Last month, the Steelers quarterback shared photos on Instagram from a “bonding week” with his family, featuring his mother Darla, father Ed, brother Luke, niece Evie and nephew Jack.
“I have been very closed off about that part of my life and I want to keep it that way, but there’s been a narrative that has gone on for too long that I wanted to kind of shut down,” Rodgers said. “And it’s been really beautiful to reconnect with them — all of them.”
The reunion has been in the works over the last few years.
In 2023, the four-time MVP made contact with Ed for the first time in nearly nine years at the Lake Tahoe celebrity golf tournament.
This year in April, Rodgers invited his parents to his Pleasant Valley High School Hall of Fame induction where he thanked them for their support.
“And I got to spend a long weekend recently — [where] those [social media] pictures are from — in Nashville with my parents and his brother and his sweet wife and their incredible two kids,” Rodgers added. “So I got to be an uncle, so it’s really special.”
Rodgers, who is entering into his 22nd and final NFL season, said getting married opened up his mind to reconnecting with his family.
The 42-year-old has been tight-lipped about the relationship other than saying her name was Brittani, spelled with an i.
He first mentioned her publicly in December 2024 and said in June of 2025 that he had gotten married “a couple months” prior.
“There’s been a lot of conversation about it outside of my own conversations for so many years,” Rodgers said. “You know, a big part of it was getting married and having those conversations with my wife that allowed me to kind of open up to the possibility of coming together — it’s been a couple-year process now, the conversations with [my family].”
This week, Rodgers also mentioned Brittani allowed him to play another season before calling it a career.
“I thought last year might be it and then Mike [McCarthy] got hired, and then talked to the wife and she said, ‘You can do one more year. See if it works out.’ And then it kinda all came together,” he said after signing a one-year deal for his second season in Pittsburgh.
Rodgers threw 3,322 yards for 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions last season that ended in a wild-card loss to the Texans.
