Anne Hathaway tells Jimmy Fallon on ‘Tonight Show’ why she’s a ‘motherly’ Knicks fan

When it comes to her Knicks fandom, Anne Hathaway tries to keep it “chill” when she’s at Madison Square Garden cheering on her team.

Hathaway sported an orange and blue handkerchief during an appearance on “The Tonight Show” and told host Jimmy Fallon that she was a “very chill,” “very loving and calm” fan.

“But I’m also the type of fan that I considered wearing an OG [Anunoby] jersey out here today,” the Hollywood A-lister said.

“When I’m at the game, I want them to know that I know who they are and that they’re going to win. I don’t want to get out into like ‘Oh, what are you doing!?’ All that. I want them to know that you can do no wrong. I’m trying to be like a gentle, loving, motherly fan.”

She added: “And when you miss the basket, that wasn’t you. … That basket moved, I saw it.”

Hathaway, who has been spotted at the Garden before, said she wasn’t at the Knicks’ Game 5 win over the Hawks on Tuesday.

“I was working because I didn’t know that it was going to go that deep into the playoffs [series]. It was such a great game,” Hathaway said.

Hathaway was making the late-night talk show appearance to help promote her new movie, “The Devil Wears Prada 2.”

The actress, who also starred in “Interstellar,” “The Dark Knight Rises” and “The Princess Diaries,” had a memorable moment back in 2024 when Anunoby nearly careened into Hathaway during a game at the Garden.

Hathaway was unfazed by the whole thing and on Wednesday, she said she was concerned by the basketball that had also been heading her way.

“I was so excited about the ball, I never imagined something better was going to happen,” Hathaway joked. “Which was that OG was going to be right there. It was this thing where he was coming at me and time slowed down. And I just knew he didn’t want to hit me or my family, any more than I wanted to be hit.”
