BAFTA Awards 2023 Winners: Kate Winslet Best Actress, ‘Bad Sisters’ Best Drama Series

BAFTA Awards 2023 has been announced. This year’s British Academy Television Awards have been announced at the Royal Festival Hall in London on 14 May. ‘Titanic’ fame veteran actress Kate Winslet has received the BAFTA Award for Best Actress for the popular drama series ‘I Am Ruth’. This is Kate’s first BAFTA award. The award ceremony was hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan. Apart from this, the reality competition series ‘The Traitors’ and its host Claudia Winkleman have also received the award. Launched in November, the series sees contestants ‘killing’ each other inside a Scottish castle. Ben Whishaw won the Best Actor award for ‘This Is Going to Hurt’ alongside Kent Winslet. ‘Bad Sisters’ has received the Best Drama Series award at the ceremony.

Kate Winslet has received the Best Actress Award for the role of a mother. She is playing the role of a mother who is struggling to support her daughter Freya in ‘I am Ruth’. Freya is addicted to social media and due to this she also starts struggling with mental problems. When Kate reached the BAFTA 2023 stage, she won everyone’s heart with her speech. The actress said, ‘We do not want this and we want to get our children back. We don’t want to wake up every day in fear for the mental health of our children. Any youth listening to this, if you need help, please ask. There is nothing to be ashamed of in this. Kate Winslet also said that if this award could be cut in two, she would like to share it with her daughter. Winslet’s daughter Mia Thrippleton plays her daughter Freya in the series.
