Jessica Blaylock might have to start wearing a rain jacket to cover Marlins games for the foreseeable future.
One day after the Bally Sports reporter was drenched with water from the team’s water cooler following a walk-off win, Blaylock found herself in a similar situation once again — though she seemingly avoided the brunt of it.
The Marlins, tied in the ninth inning against the Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon, came through in the final frame once again when Otto Lopez delivered a two-out single to drive in Tim Anderson from second as right fielder Alec Burleson dropped the ball as he attempted to wing it home.
So, Lopez stood in front of the Marlins’ dugout on the third base side of loanDepot park for a postgame interview to talk about the hit with Blaylock and what has been going on with Miami’s “late-game magic.”
But that’s when someone from the Marlins opened up the water cooler on the bench and flung its contents toward both Lopez and Blaylock.
It appeared Lopez got the brunt of the water, while Blaylock — facing more toward the dugout — only got clipped by the liquid.
This came one day after Marlins star Jazz Chisholm threw water toward Blaylock — who was interviewing Vidal Brujan with her back turned to the bench — and completely drenched her entire pink outfit.
The field reporter didn’t seem to have any beef with Chisholm over the move, posting on X afterward that she just wanted some chocolate from him in return, to which he responded: “You know I always got you!!! There’s a box waiting on you !!”
Blaylock on Wednesday took to X and was seemingly proud of the changes that led to her getting less wet this time around.
“It’s a game of adjustments,” she wrote on the social media platform with a crying laughing emoji.
Who knows, maybe next time she’ll avoid the water cooler altogether.
