All’s well that ends in the well.
A young boy is lucky to be alive after plummeting down a 40-foot well while playing in a courtyard in India, as seen in nailbiting CCTV footage.
The fiasco occurred on December 19 in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh State while the unidentified lad was frolicking with a pal in a gated outdoor area with no adults in sight, Jam Press reported.
Little did the boy know, his carefree playdate was about to literally go south.
The heart-stopping footage starts off innocuously enough, and the youth can be seen walking along the edge of the covered watering hole while his buddy rides a bike. All of a sudden he steps onto the cover and falls 40 feet down the well with a bloodcurdling cry.
Upon seeing his friend vanish into the void, the pal stops riding his bike and runs over to the pit to see if he’s ok.
The footage then cuts to a little while later as adults, including the homeowner Pawan Jain, gather around the watering hole to assist the trapped boy. Salvation comes after a man descends into the abyss, whereupon presently the boy appears at the top and is hoisted to safety by a female samaritan.
The rescuers later described that they tossed a rope into the well for the boy to grab onto until someone could reach him.
Thankfully, the boy’s accidental bathing session ended “well” with the boy getting extracted from the hole in several minutes. He miraculously didn’t sustain any injuries during the plunge.
In a similar catastrophe in July, a dog in Georgia fell 35 feet into an abandoned well on Saturday night, where she was forced to tread water for hours until being rescued the next day.
