Dance floor sinkhole swallows 25 students and ruins graduation party

How low can you go?

A graduation party in Peru turned calamitous after the dance floor collapsed beneath the teen revelers, creating a scene like something out of an apocalypse movie. Footage of the “underground dance scene” has amassed 4.2 million views on TikTok.

The fiasco occurred while teens were celebrating their high school graduation in San Martin, Peruvian publication ElPopular.pe reported. In the clip, uploaded on Dec. 17 to the site’s TikTok account, the sharply dressed students can be seen gyrating in a huddled mass in the middle of the dance floor.

Their soiree quickly goes subterranean, however, after a huge hole opens up in the middle of the dance floor, whereupon the students fall inside en masse as a cloud of dust fills the air. The DJ stops the music as bystanders rush to assist the imperiled graduates-to-be.

The clip concludes with an adult helping guide the students out of the crater like a spelunking guide.

All of a sudden, the floor opens up and swallows the dancers en masse.

The cause of the collapse is yet unclear. Peruvian site Trome reported that the “floor was made of wood and could not support the weight of the minors.”

Following the fiasco, all 25 teens involved were immediately rushed to the local health center. Thankfully, there were no fatalities, although the extent of the students’ injuries has yet to be revealed, Jam Press has reported.

Meanwhile, TikTok had a field day with the locomotion implosion with one jokester quipping, “When they said … we’re gonna dance till the floor breaks.”

“The real one tore up the dance floor,” joked another, while one wrote that the party had continued on the “ground floor.”

In a similar catastrophe in September, a sinkhole opened up and swallowed several people dancing at a birthday party in Brazil.
