Beyoncé fans are pissed at John Schneider
The actor known for his role in the 1979 TV show “Dukes of Hazzard” is being labeled a racist after comparing Beyoncé to a dog marking its territory when she put out two country-themed tracks this month.
“They’ve got to make their mark, just like a dog in a dog walk park. You know, every dog has to mark every tree, right? So that’s what’s going on here,” Schneider, 63, said while appearing on conservative media outlet One American News.
The comment came after the anchor asked Schneider his thoughts on fans pressuring an Oklahoma radio station to play the “Single Ladies” songstresses new country music.
“The lefties in the entertainment industry just won’t leave any area alone, right? They just have to seize control over every aspect, don’t they,” asked the host.
According to Schneider, it’s usually the other way around with country stars attempting to break into mainstream music.
“I know a little something about country music,” Schneider — who has released several country albums — asserted.
Since making the comments, several X ( formerly Twitter) users have lambasted the actor.
“Beyoncé can do whatever the f–k she wants to do she doesn’t need your permission John Schneider,” one angry fan seethed.
“Can we all agree that John Schneider is a hateful ignorant jackass,” a second person sneered.
“John Schneider just went after Beyoncé for ‘peeing on his tree.’ I’m here for the schooling he’s about to get,” a third person laughed.
“John Schneider was born in New York and moved to Atlanta at the age of 14,” another fan bleated. “Just because he slapped on some Levi’s and pretended to be southern 4 years later for Dukes of Hazzard does NOT make him an expert on what is and isn’t country. He’s a racist jackass is what he is.”
The Post reached out to Schneider and Beyoncé for comment.
Schneider’s comments come a mere week after the celebrated singer, 42, quietly dropped two tracks titled “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em” during the 2024 Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chief and the San Francisco 49ers.
Things further escalated when an Oklahoma radio station refused a caller’s request to play any of the singer’s tracks.
KYKC, the station in question, later told the caller “We do not play Beyoncé on KYKC as we are a country music station.”
Fans were outraged by the memo, and some of them even accused the station of “blatant racism and discrimination” against the singer.
“The refusal to play these songs raises concerns about the station’s stance on artists of color. Whether intentional or not, such action contributes to the narrative of racial bias within the country community,” one fan wrote.
South Center Oklahoma Radio Enterprises (SCORE) general manager, Roger Harris, explained that KYKC isn’t playing the new Beyoncé songs due to the size of the market.
“We are a small market station. We’re not in a position to break an artist or help it that much, so it has to chart a little bit higher for us to add it,” Harris said in a statement.
“But we love Beyoncé here. We play her on our [other top 40 and adult hits stations] but we’re not playing her on our country station yet because it just came out.”
KYKC seemingly changed its tune on Tuesday when it shared a picture of “Texas Hold ‘Em” on X writing, “Lots of call coming in for Beyoncé’s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em.’ It’s coming up in minutes.”
Beyoncé’s new songs will be included on “Renaissance Act II” which she announced will be released on March 29.
