Spotify Wrapped is drooping soon and some music lovers are rigging their results so they can show off their most-listened tracks of 2024 — free of judgment.
“Gonna hack Spotify HQ before Spotify Wrapped comes out because I would rather be in jail than have my top genre be country,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
That was just one of the many tweets about the anticipation of the upcoming Spotify Wrapped 2024 drop.
“Imagine hating me, a girl who is simply in her room trying to change the trajectory of her Spotify wrapped before it’s too late,” another Spotify user said.
“Just realized Spotify wrapped is coming soon… I have amazing taste in music so I don’t need last-minute changes,” someone else said in a seemingly sarcastic message.
A different X user confessed, “That time of year I’m putting certain songs on repeat to hack my Spotify wrapped.”
“I think I need to rig my Spotify wrapped before it turns out to be the same exact thing as last year,” another person wrote.
“Need to rig my Spotify wrapped now so I can make my most listened to song one that I didn’t fall asleep with on repeat accidentally,” another tweet read.
Meanwhile, one X user called out Spotify users who are taking part in the rigging.
“People that purposefully rig their Spotify wrapped so that one song has an insane amount of hours and stuff pmo sooooo bad,” they tweeted.
Spotify teased the upcoming Wrapped drop in a press release on Wednesday, saying that “the best time of the year is right around the corner.”
The company also told users to update their app that includes the Wrapped package so they can see their activity over the last year.
In 2023, Spotify Wrapped came out on Wednesday, November 29, almost a week after Thanksgiving.
On Reddit, fans have been speculating that the 2024 Spotify Wrapped may be dropping on Monday, Dec. 2 or Wednesday. Dec. 4.
“I noticed that it has dropped on Wednesday every year for the last 3 years but I’m REALLY hoping we don’t have to wait until 12/04 😭😭,” one person wrote in the Reddit thread.
“I can’t wait anymore,” another Spotify user said, while someone else replied, “I’m dying bro.”
“Why do I want this so badly lmao. Like last night at midnight I kept checking hoping it would show up. And as soon as I woke up. Like I can’t freaking wait the suspense is killing me lol,” another person wrote.
Spotify Wrapped first came out in 2016. It’s been released annually between November 29 and December 6.
