ESPN anchor Laura Rutledge is expressing gratitude that her baby son, Jack, is on the mend after a scary situation over the holidays.
On Christmas Day, Rutledge revealed the harrowing news that Jack had to get airlifted to the hospital with unspecified health concerns, and she checked back in on Wednesday with a positive development.
“We are so thankful for your prayers for baby Jack. We’ve felt all of them,” Rutledge tweeted Wednesday.
“I write this grateful for the miracle that occurred for him while also knowing so many of these stories don’t have happy endings. Thinking of all of you who have endured far worse. We just received a positive report from Jack’s doctors at Connecticut Children’s. No additional surgery is required and his pain has lessened significantly. He has a long recovery ahead but they expect full healing! They praised the work of doctors in South Carolina. Thank you to everyone who has reached out. It sure is good to see this sweet smile again.”
Rutledge is widely acclaimed as the host of “NFL Live,” which airs weekday afternoons on ESPN.
She had written on Monday about her baby’s health scare in South Carolina.
“I was hesitant to post this because I don’t want anyone to think we are asking for pity. Unlike many parents, we got to take our baby home after a hospital visit today,” Rutledge wrote.
“Praising God for that and praying for many who are handling far worse. I want to shout out amazing care we received from doctors, nurses and medics working on Christmas. Baby Jack was airlifted in a helicopter from Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC to MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital in Charleston. Both hospitals were so kind and acted fast.
“Lauren, Eric and Justin with Airlink Novant Health treated our little guy like he was their own and offered reassurance at the scariest moments. Thank you to the strangers that stood by us today. First responders are amazing.”
