Gleyber Torres kept taking batting practice as earthquake shook Yankee Stadium

Not even an earthquake was going to stop the Yankees’ home opener prep.

The Bombers were taking batting practice ahead of Friday’s game against the Blue Jays in The Bronx and while they felt the 4.7 magnitude quake that rocked the tri-state area around 11:10 a.m., players went about their business unfazed.

Video from Yankee Stadium showed Gleyber Torres continuing to take his pregame cuts in the batting cage, even as one individual next to the cage stood up as the shaking intensified, seemingly bewildered, and the Yankees coach throwing to Torres momentarily paused.

Anthony Volpe, behind Torres, seemed to motion that the ground was shaking.

Business, however, went on as usual, as Torres kept on swinging.

Catcher Austin Well was among those on the field who felt the quake.

“The field was shaking,” he said. “Definitely felt it.”

Fans were being allowed into the stadium around the time of the earthquake and there are no indications first pitch — scheduled for 1:05 p.m. — would be affected.
