So much for his novel idea.

Inspired by a viral video, book lover Kevin T. Norman asked his boyfriend to make him a book advent calendar — the drama that ensued divided the bibliophiles of TikTok.

“You do it. Say it’s from me,” the unidentified man says off-camera to Norman. “I don’t have time for that, and you have too many books.”

“Why don’t you do this? Pick out the books you want to unwrap and then we can sit down together and wrap them. I don’t want to do it all,” the man continued. “I’m not going to go out and buy you more books. That is just a waste of money.”

Norman responds, “You’re not supportive.”

The 36-second clip, posted last week, drew 569,000 views as some bookworms argued that Norman should turn the page on his relationship, while others proclaimed Norman was being shelf-ish.

“Someone tag that red flag guy because this book boy deserves better!” one reader exclaimed in Norman’s defense.

“I want to break up with him on your behalf,” another declared.

“That’s heartbreaking. You could see the excitement drain from your face and it turn to sadness,” a third empathized.

Others sided with the boyfriend, insisting that Norman’s request was unreasonable.

“Books are like $15-$25 EACH! I would say no too, but he also made a perfect compromise to do it together? I don’t see this issue here,” one BookToker wrote.

“Yasss girl because buying 25 books is soooo cheap! it’s not like it’s a really expensive gift!!” another sarcastically replied.

“It’s kind of a huge ask to request someone personally curate TWENTY FIVE books that you will like and don’t already have, buy & wrap them tbh,” a third reasoned.
