Bah, humbug!
An elderly man has been caught on camera attempting to stifle a UK couple’s Christmas cheer by overturning the festive doormat they proudly placed outside of their apartment.
Edinburgh-based Lewys Fraser posted peephole footage of the incident to TikTok where it quickly went viral, clocking up 41,000 views and a whole lot of Yuletide outrage.
The video begins with a woman, presumably Fraser’s girlfriend, holding up a doormat featuring three penguins holding hands below the words “Merry Christmas.”
She places the mat outside the apartment and shuts the door, but just five minutes later an elderly neighbor can be seen through the peephole shuffling out of his own apartment and over to Fraser’s festive mat.
The elderly man is filmed tinkering with the doormat before moving back to his own digs.
Fraser and his lady love then open up their door to find their festive doormat has been turned upside down so that its black rubber side is facing upwards.
“This man is the Grinch!” Fraser exclaims in his video, as he swiftly turns the mat back to its proper side and gives the elderly man’s door the middle finger.

TikTok users quickly commented beneath the footage, sharing some suggestions for the couple.
“Glue two doormats together and you get a different design when he flips it,” one cheekily advised.
“I’d decorate the entire door, garlands, lights, and all. Get some of that mega-strong rug tape,” another chimed in.

However, some believed the man may have had a motive for tampering with the holiday display.
“Maybe he has a reason to not like Christmas. Maybe a bad memory or something definitely as to why it offends him!” one user asserted.
But a detractor snapped back, pointing out: “He is quite rude doing that! Even if there is a reason he doesn’t like Christmas, it doesn’t mean no one else can enjoy it.”
The Post has reached out to Fraser for comment.
