A Florida woman has revealed the insane way she learned her boyfriend was cheating on her, discovering the betrayal alongside tens of thousands of other people.
Mikayla Miedzianowski, 23, took to TikTok to share her heartbreaking story, posting a video explaining that she spotted her beau cozied up with another woman on the Facebook page “Are We Dating the Same Guy?”
The popular page — designed for ladies in Tampa who are suspicious of their dates — boasts 35,000 subscribers, with users often sharing photos of potential paramours who display “red flags.”
“Just silently swigging out of a bottle of wine on my boyfriend’s couch while he does the dishes because I just found out on social media in front of 35,000 people that he cheated on me and I’m going to have to confront him any second,” Miedzianowski captioned her clip, which quickly clocked up more than 10 million views.
In an interview with NeedToKnow.co.uk on Friday, the blond dished additional details on the saga, saying she was mindlessly scrolling the Facebook page when she came across the image of her boyfriend, whom she had been dating for six months.
“The photo she [the other woman] posted was taken the night that he met her and cheated on me,” Miedzianowski explained. “She never reached out to me [directly], but she told me the entire story, anonymously, in the comments.”
After receiving confirmation from the woman, Miedzianowski recorded her now-infamous TikTok clip before working up the courage to confront her beau.
“I showed him the messages with shaking hands, and he confessed immediately to cheating on me,” the Tampa vet nurse recalled. “And not just the two times I knew of, but more times than he even remembered.”
Miedzianowski claimed her ex begged for forgiveness, saying he “couldn’t imagine life” without her around.
However, she decided to leave him then and there — a move which caused her cheating boyfriend to quickly change his attitude.
“He stopped begging for me to stay and developed a cold demeanor,” she stated. “He suddenly started claiming that he didn’t love me and refused to fight for me.”
Miedzianowski also told NeedToKnow.co.uk that she initially tried to defend her philandering beau, saying: “I asked [the poster] to please delete her comments on the post so that no one would think poorly of someone that I loved so much.”
“In what was my darkest moment, my first reaction was to try to protect him,” she heartbreakingly explained. “When you have so many things tied to someone, especially family and travel plans, it is really hard to process.”
However, Miedzianowski has been heartened by the enormous reaction that her TikTok video has received, with many people reaching out to offer their support.
“Once I came to the conclusion that what had happened was entirely out of my control, I tried to cope with humor, and that’s where the TikTok video came into play,” she stated.
“Upon going viral, I realized that people actually care about what happened to me,” the blond continued. “Everything happens for a reason, and I am lucky to have seen his true colors so early on.”
Miedzianowski didn’t disclose whether her ex-boyfriend is now officially with the woman who posted his photo on the “Are We Dating the Same Guy?” page.
However, she says she’s starting to heal and wants to find love again.
“I hope to continue inspiring people to share their stories because that has helped me so much to move on after the end of what turned out to be a terrible relationship.” she declared.
“I still have a lot of work to do moving forward, but I hope to inspire people to join me in healing.”
