I taught my man to do my nails to save money — my friends are jealous

He’s really nailing it.

A UK woman revealed that she now saves nearly $765 after her boyfriend taught himself how to paint her nails to “salon standard.”

“I used to get my nails done religiously every single month and have done since the age of 16, spending $64 to $75 each time because of central London prices,” Mared Parry, 26, told Kennedy News.

So she turned to her 27-year-old boyfriend Blake Max for help and purchased an at-home gel nail kit for her beau.

“I bought the set on Amazon for next-day delivery and when I came home from work the next day Blake was sitting on the sofa practicing his painting on fake nails,” Parry said.

“I taught him everything I knew and then he was watching videos on YouTube and TikTok and saving posts on Pinterest. He was so into it and spent hours and hours researching and practicing.”

She said from that point forward, Max was “fully invested.”

At first, he did basic designs like a midnight sky with golden stars.

Since then, he has progressed to tiny fruits such as oranges, grapes, watermelons, pineapples and cherries.

The lovestruck couple said that they use the “salon time” as prep for a night out.

“We both love it. It’s like a pre-date night,” giggled Parry. “We put some TV on, grab a cup of tea and have a good chat.”

“It’s like I’m in an actual nail salon. Blake really enjoys it and it makes him happy,” she continued, adding that the money she saves has been going to making date night with her boyfriend even more special.

She also noted that Max is incredibly patient, which comes through in his designs.

“My friends are all so jealous. When I post it on my socials, I have so many people replying to me asking how much he charges and asking if he can do their nails as they’re better than their own nail techs,” Parry said.

Parry said her nails are constantly complimented.

“People always tell me how much they love my nails and ask me where I get them done,” she said. “Everyone is so gassed about it when they find out my boyfriend does them.”

Max’s friends are “proud” of him and his work — and think it’s “sweet” that he does her nails, Parry said.

Max said that he finds painting nails to be “therapeutic.”

“I love focusing on the little details and having an end goal and seeing the end product,” explained the besotted boyfriend. “I think that’s the motivation behind it — I like seeing the finished nails at the end of it because it does take a lot of patience.”

Max said that in the beginning, his nail painting skills weren’t quite up to the standard Parry was used to.

“We tried it the first time and tried just a solid color. I got it in her cuticles and it was a mess but then every time we did it, it just kind of got better,” stated Max. “And the designs progressed and I wanted to see what else I could do.

“I’ve always loved intricate, fiddly things. I used to doodle on my school books and do model making when I was younger. I’d say I’m very good with my hands.”

The couples, who document all of their newest designs on TikTok, revealed that they really don’t know what will happen until Max starts painting.

“I never really know how they’re going to turn out when we start,” stated Max. “During the process, I sometimes doubt myself and have to wipe the design off and restart.”

Max said his next goal is to master the acrylic nail.

“I said it must not be too hard to do acrylics but apparently it is quite tricky,” admitted Max.

Until then Max said he just loved spending time with his girlfriend.

“I love just being able to sit down with her at the end of the day and paint her nails while saving her a bit of money — I can’t really complain.”
