Now, this just won’t fly.
After an exotic escape to Brazil, an NYC model and her mother struggled to escape back to the Big Apple. The twosome were left “stranded” in an airport for nearly a week, owing to consecutive flight cancellations.
“Day in the life living at the airport,” groaned Vienna Skye, 25, chronicling her extended stay at the Rio de Janeiro Airport in an Instagram Reels post. The viral video has garnered more than 3.6 million views.
“I didn’t sleep because United Airlines continuously canceled my flight for four days in a row,” added the beleaguered brunette. “So I’ve just been stuck … with absolutely nowhere to sleep.”
For the inconvenience, the airline has issued a mea culpa.
“We’ve apologized to the customer for their frustrating travel experience and provided a refund for the unused flight,” a representative for United Airlines told The Post.
“The customers accepted our additional goodwill offer of travel certificates,” continued the spokesperson. “We look forward to welcoming them back.”
No matter the circumstance, flight cancellations are just a plane pain.
Jet-setters throughout the US had their wings unexpectedly clipped Friday due to a global security crisis.
The unprecedented hiccup — caused when a cybersecurity company deployed a faulty software update to Microsoft Windows — grounded aircraft across the country, forcing would-be flyers to bunk in place.
Unfortunately for travelers, the catastrophic crash hadn’t been completely resolved by Monday. Delta Airlines canceled a whopping 800-plus departures.
Skye’s flubbed flight, however, happened long before the nationwide chaos.
After a brief visit to South America in June, she and her mom, Donna, had tickets to fly back home on a Sunday afternoon. However, the pair didn’t touch down on US soil until 1:00 p.m. that following Thursday, Skye told People.
“There was ultimately no explanation,” said the Gen Z of the back-to-back cancellations. “They just kept saying maintenance.”
Online, Skye shared visuals of her miserable layover with virtual friends, showing herself fighting to get comfy in the confines of the plane station.
She recalled a hopeful moment on “Day 3” of her nightmarish travels when she and Donna boarded an airbus that was set to launch for home.
However, the wheels on the bus never went up.
“At around 9:00 p.m. on my third day, I got ready to board the flight that I should have known was not going to take off,” Skye lamented.
“After about an hour of sitting on the tarmac, the flight crew whispered in our ears that we needed to start looking for different flights on a different airline,” she said. “And just like that, we were de-boarded.”
Following the major letdown, the influencer shelled out a staggering $4,000 on two tickets for a Delta flight landing in Newark, New Jersey, the next day — which meant she and Donna had to spend another restless night in the airport.
Sleeplessness, however, was far from their biggest hassle.
“The kicker of all of this is I’ve been through Brazil customs six times when it should only be two,” griped Skye, adding that she, too, had to lug her luggage around after each failed flight.
“Does anybody know what I’m supposed to do in this situation?” she questioned in her clip.
“This is unheard of, right?” Skye moaned. “I am at a loss for words, and I don’t even know how to handle this.”
On top of it all, en route to Brazil, they also endured a layover in Houston for which they could not find a hotel — so the airline provided cots to sleep on.
“I was stuck in some horror film, that’s what it felt like,” she told People of that adventure.
Thankfully, United did refund half of her original $2,000 round-trip flight ticket to Brazil. However, despite her extensive communications with airline staffers, she hasn’t been compensated for the new flight tickets, per People.
“I always fly United. I mean, I do have issues with them a lot, but I was a [Premier] 1K member, which means I have flown a lot in the past year,” Skye told the outlet. “But now I’m afraid to fly with them again.”
