A blind woman said she’s been labeled a “bridezilla” by wedding guests who are complaining about everything — even her guide dog.
Angharad Paget-Jones and her fiancé Stephen are having a small wedding in November — yet “guestzillas” have already made their fair share of complaints.
“I find it pretty funny I’ve been labeled ‘bridezilla’ as it’s just people who didn’t get their opinions taken on board who have called me that, everyone else has said I’ve been pretty relaxed about it all,” the 29-year-old told Jam Press.
Paget-Jones first went viral when she took to Twitter to talk about one of her guests.
“Being called a ‘bridezilla’ for not wanting to change the wedding menu for one person,” Paget-Jones tweeted.
“If they had an allergy fair enough I’d obv[iously] ensure it was safe but they just don’t like it.”
She went on to say that her “entitled” picky eaters could eat before they come or go to the McDonald’s down the road.
To add to the ridiculousness of the request, Paget-Jones also shared that a buffet would be rolled out later that night.
Paget-Jones was simply airing her frustration on the platform and was surprised to receive so much support after her first tweet went viral amassing 13.8K views.
Hundreds of Twitter users replied to encourage Paget-Jones to continue planning the wedding she wanted and shared similar stories of their wedding planning drama.
A few weeks later, Paget-Jones went viral on Twitter a second time.
“My venue is at a really nice hotel/spa in the Welsh valleys and someone said it was too fancy and they felt intimidated by the venue. I told them it’s the venue my partner and I chose for being the most accessible and nice, but I was called a ‘bridezilla’ for not wanting to change my venue to suit them,” she explained to Jam Press.
Her guests apparently have opinions on everything — from the venue to those who deemed her rose petal confetti “stuck up.” But the most distressing complaints have been about the guide dogs.
Paget-Jones is an outspoken disabilities advocate and she was stunned when several guests had an issue with the four guide dogs who will be attending with their human guests, including her own beloved guide Tudor, “who’s a big part of the wedding.”
Some guests expressed concern about dog hair sticking to their outfits.
“My first reaction was shock, I was tempted to tell them where to go, but I kept calm and told them they had the option not to attend if the dogs were going to be issue,” she said.
“They’re not pets, they’re guide dogs and are there for a purpose.”
To those who’ve had the audacity to make specific requests, Paget-Jones has sent reminders that they can simply choose not to attend the event.
“It didn’t go well but they’ve had 11 months notice to make arrangements,” she said. “We’re only having a small wedding of 40 guests and they have the option of coming or not — if they come, we want a no-drama day, which we’ve expressed.”
Despite the shocking amount of guests’ input for such a small ceremony and the bride’s viral tweets, the happy couple isn’t letting it ruin planning their dream wedding.
“We just brush them off to be honest, it’s our wedding we’re doing it the way we want it,” Paget-Jones said.
