What is it, boy?
According to a recent survey from pet care site Rover, 60% percent of pet parents say their fur baby has predicted something no one else saw coming — like a pregnancy, illness or weather phenomenon.
It is widely believed that animals are able to detect a change in smell due to pregnancy hormones or sense a change in air pressure that a human couldn’t.
However, many pet owners even suspect that their animals have other spookier senses.
In fact, Rover found that a whopping 73% of them believe their precious pet has a “sixth sense” or can sense paranormal activity.
Self-proclaimed “animal communicator” Nancy Mello agrees.
“They absolutely can [sense ghosts],” the adamant animal psychic proclaimed to The Post.
Regardless of whether Fido or Mitten is actually able to sniff out spirits, how can you tell when they are able to detect something serious — or downright creepy enough to make your hair stand on end more than their own fur?
Nicole Ellis of Rover’s Pet People Panel explained to The Post that dogs in particular “have their own language, consisting of various vocalizations, body postures and facial expressions.”
She advises paying attention to barking, growling, whimpering and howling, along with wagging tails, raised hackles and lowered ears to communicate.
“Understanding these signals can help you interpret what your dog is trying to convey and respond accordingly,” Ellis told The Post.
“Strong communication leads to stronger bonds with your pets, which leads to a happier, healthier, more enriching life for you both,” Ellis said.
Mello shared that pets will get extra clingy and nudge you if they’re trying to warn you of something, perhaps even unseen spirits.
Sometimes they may even lay on a certain area of your body to alert you to a medical issue.
“If that becomes a pattern and they’ve never done that before, I always say just go to the doctor,” Mello told The Post.
For pet owners who want to dig deeper with their four-legged friend, Rover is offering virtual Rover Readings — free sessions with Mello — on Rover.com, from Oct. 17 through Oct. 31.
