We’re hoping that it ain’t no lie.
Former *NYSNC frontman Justin Timberlake teased that the ’90s boyband isn’t quite ready to say bye bye bye and could be putting out more new music while appearing on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” Tuesday.
“We’ve been in the studio, so there may be a little something in the future, too,” Timberlake, 42, said to a very excited Kelly Clarkson.
According to the “Cry Me a River” crooner, the potential comeback came after the boyband — which includes JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone — reunited after two decades to release a song called “Better Place,” which was featured in the 2023 film “Trolls Band Together.”
The song marks the first time the group has put new music out since 2002, when production company the Neptunes released a remix of their 2001 song “Girlfriend.”
“That was fun,” he said to Clarkson, 41. “It’s kind of crazy, like, there’s so much that just picks up right where it left off as far as the chemistry.”
Reflecting on his career, Timberlake said he loved the music-making process because he sang with the group.
“Growing up in the industry and getting access to so much in the studio, I just became like a studio rat,” Timberlake stated. “I just loved being in there and I loved the creative process. And also as it pertains to harmonies, I spent some time with four other guys doing a lot of harmonies.”
Timberlake appeared on the “American Idol” alum’s talk show to promote his upcoming album “Everything I Thought It Was,” which is slated to hit the airwaves in March.
The “Sexy Back” crooner debuted two of the album’s songs, which are titled “Selfish” and “Sanctified,” during his appearance on “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend.
As previously reported, the group caused massive shockwaves when they reunited at the 2023 VMA Awards to present Taylor Swift with the award for Best Pop Video.
The band teased their VMA reunion earlier on Instagram by lip-syncing the audio from the “Friends” episode “The One With All the Resolutions.”
*NSYNC’s video ends with the group shrugging and walking off in separate directions.
Rumors of the band getting back together have been swirling since late August. At the time, multiple posters for the Dreamworks film featured the group’s logo and a QR code that directed fans to TakeYouToABetterPlace.com, which features a sample of the song.
TMZ later reported that they have no plans to tour, host a residency or release an album.
