Katie Holmes is preparing for her new normal.

The 45-year-old recently made a rare comment about her daughter Suri, 18, heading to college in the fall.

“I’m proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy,” Holmes told Town & Country in an interview published on Tuesday. “I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that.”

“The members of my book club are going to get annoyed hearing from me. I’ll be like, ‘Let’s meet once a week,’” she added.

Holmes and her ex-husband Tom Cruise, 62, welcomed Suri in 2006 before divorcing in 2012.

In May, Suri revealed which college she will attend in a since-deleted TikTok video posted by her friend.

The clip, captioned “LaG commitment day” — for the performing arts high school Fiorello H. LaGuardia in New York City — showed Suri and her pals wearing sweaters that featured the names of the colleges they were going to.

The video was set to the Hannah Montana song “I’ll Always Remember You.”

Holmes’ only child may follow in her mother’s footsteps, as Suri sported a red Carnegie Mellon University sweater, a nod to the Pittsburgh college boasting a prestigious performing arts department.

Holmes herself was accepted to Columbia University after she graduated high school but ended up deferring after she started booking acting gigs.

The “Coda” actress’ breakout role as Joey Potter on “Dawson’s Creek” came in 1998.

The mother-daughter duo is no stranger to showcasing their talents together, as Suri’s vocals have been featured in two of Holmes’ projects: the 2022 film “Alone Together” and 2023’s “Rare Objects.”

In 2023, the “First Daughter” star reflected on working with Suri.

“I hope she always does something on my films,” Holmes told Glamour. “I always ask her. But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people. And it’s this safe, beautiful, creative space.”

She continued, “So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly. That’s how I like to work. I like to have that kind of feeling. It was very meaningful to me to have her there, because she’s my heart.”

Holmes also touched on being a mom to a teenage girl in this day and age.

“What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her,” she said. “I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person.”
