Kimberley A. Martin mocks Bill Belichick for ‘recruiting youngins’ on ‘Get Up’ as UNC rumors swirl

Things went off the rails during Wednesday’s installment of “Get Up” when ESPN NFL reporter Kimberley Martin cracked a joke about Bill Belichick dating 24-year-old Jordon Hudson while the former Patriots coach aspires to the next North Carolina coach.

“In fairness … Belichick has proven he can recruit the youngins’. I’m just saying. He’s proven it,” Martin said while discussing Belichick confirming the talks.

Martin objected to ESPN NFL analyst Andrew Hawkins questioning whether the 72-year-old Belichick will be able to recruit young talent to Chapel Hill.

“I’ll question his ability to recruit a bunch of 16- and 17-year-olds or if he even wants to recruit a bunch of 16-, 17-year-olds,” Hawkins said. “But even NIL now operates more like free agency than it ever has. So, there is probably more overlap than we even see on the surface.”

That’s when Martin said Belichick has proven he can appeal to a much younger audience — and her peers were caught off guard.

“Do we got a commercial?… We got some insurance to sell?” Foxworth asked while he shuffled through his papers.

“Oh, my word … This show is going to be the most-watched show,” ESPN analyst Jeff Saturday said.

“There was a little concern about giving Kimberley the final word and that concern was justified,” said NFL insider Dan Graziano, who filled in for host Mike Greenberg.

The internet had a field day with Martin’s comment.

“It had to be said,” Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina wrote on X, including a clip of Martin.

Belichick and Hudson’s relationship was made public in June.

The couple was photographed enjoying a boat ride together in Nantucket, where the eight-time Super Bowl winner owns multiple properties.

Belichick took his talents to ESPN after he parted ways with the Patriots in January following 24 seasons at the helm.

During a Monday appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Belichick confirmed that he had “a couple good conversations” with UNC Chancellor [Lee] Roberts — but wouldn’t share any further details.

UNC made “a big push” for Belichick later that night, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, but nothing has been finalized as of 3 p.m. ET Wednesday.

Both sides reportedly “remain apart on multiple key terms” and while a deal could “come together quickly,” multiple sources briefed on the situation said “nothing is imminent.”

Belichick, who has made it clear he wants to coach in 2025, is expected to make a decision soon.
