They’re taking it all off.
In February, Ann-Cathrine Spino, a 31-year-old from Montreal, shaved off her 22-inch-long tresses and opted for a buzz cut.
She said it was the best decision of her life.
“I feel so free and very feminine,” said Spino, who works in marketing. “We’re taught to believe that women can only be sexy with long hair, but I get so many comments from men and women telling me my buzz cut is so hot.”
For women, this season the buzz cut is … well, buzzy. At the Met Gala on Monday, “Don’t Worry Darling” star Florence Pugh, 27, debuted her newly shaved head on the red carpet.
Pugh said she originally went super short for her upcoming film “We Live in Time” but hid the austere look under wigs and accessories.
For fashion’s biggest night, she decided to show it off — to stunning effect.
On TikTok, the hashtag #GirlsWithShavedHeads has amassed over 106.7 million views, with women sharing their dramatic transformations.
Alex Hartnett, a lead hairstylist at the Coz salon in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, told The Post that the dramatic cut is in-line with broader trends for tresses.
“People are really into low-maintenance hair now, and a buzz cut is about as low maintenance as it gets,” said Hartnett, a cosmetologist of 11 years. “We’re having this liberated moment that sees celebrities and everyday women saying, ‘I don’t need all this hair anymore.’ “
A 2022 report on salon trends conducted by AllThingsHair.com, found that “50% of consumers prefer hairstyles that save them time and are easy to manage.”
The research also noted that the cosmetology industry experienced spike in demand for short haircuts last year — when A-listers such as Demi Lovato, 30; Saweetie, 29, and Iris Law, 22, shaved their heads.
Singer Doja Cat, 27, and TikTok socialite Dixie D’Amelio, 21, too, also adopted style, which is reminiscent of looks rocked by ’90s icons such as Demi Moore and Grace Jones.
Jasmine Simpson, a 26-year-old beauty influencer from Charlotte, North Carolina, initially went for a close crop in 2019 and loved it.
This past January, she did it again, shaving off her curls in a TikTok that raked in over 731,600 views.
“I feel so powerful and so badass — I’m the s – – t,” she said.
“Nothing beats not having hair sticking to your neck and face, especially during the summer,” she continued. “This look is all about confidence, comfort and convenience.”
Melissa Yoder, 32, a skin-care influencer from Austin, Texas, agreed, telling The Post with a chuckle, “I get more compliments with no hair than I ever did with long hair.”
She axed 26-inches of tresses off of her head in March after growing tired of the mop clinging to her skin in the heat.
Although her husband and two kids aren’t crazy about the short look, Yoder’s never going back.
“I do not miss hair,” she said. “I should have done this a long time ago.”
